boiling is heating water so it becomes vapor. when the pot of starches is being boiled the starches (complex carbohydrates) are broken down into ferment-able sugars. The reason you aren’t seeing bubbles is because of surface tension from the floating residual hops. the thermometer was at 210F.

Clueless. Boiling does not “break down starches”. Also, learn what a real boil is. You don’t even have bubbles rising to the surface.

ha… hot cheezits. I started a traditional european style bock two days ago, its bubbling away. This the the best brewing video ive seen on youtube. My only gripe is you shouldn’t put pressure on the grain bag, because it will release tannins, and give your beer a more astringent taste. other than that, your the most knowledgeable brewer to have a video.\
