How did the Babylonians figure out how to brew beer, 2500 years before the earth was created?

Or don’t you believe in Beer?

Only one possible conclusion.

The Earth and all humanity is the result of a drunken stuper, perhaps a drinking game.

That does explain why men have nipples.

How did you come to know how to brew beer?

posted on March 10, 2010 in how to brew beer

Influence of my brother was the main reason to brew. It was from him that I learned the great experience of brewing a unique thing of my own. From there it was through social contacts and self driven desire to make my own label.

Why do monks brew beer?

posted on March 8, 2010 in how to brew beer

Really, I would like an answer besides "God smiles upon beer," "God loves beer," etc…

How about something with history, quotes, recorded information, whatever. Not something shallow or entirely theoretical.

Not saying God doesn’t smile upon beer. I want to know why else monks (like the ones who brew the famous Belgian Trappist beers and the others located in their Abby and Monasteries throughout Europe).
Well, yes they brew wine but I’m concerned with their brewing of beer…

At least wine is used in a Holy Communion. You don’t see beer used in Church, though.
Let’s not forget Germany for many of its great beers, oikos…

There is no doubt the monks (and Nuns in a few cases) have been brewing beer for nutritional and economic reasons. Health can be considered as well since the brewing process happens to kill any harmful bacteria lurking in the water used. Monks brew for barter and cash income concerns. The revenue no doubt funds the day to day expenses of running the monastery but perhaps the local church and charties as well.

A couple of sites by well known sources I keep handy.
